Orland Mayor: Congress Addresses Mail Issues, Not Village
USPS delivery in the Chicagoland area has been stagnant for several months. But the village has no control over it.

ORLAND PARK, IL — Having mail issues in Orland Park? You're not alone. Chicago-area United States Postal Service (USPS) has endured mail issues that setback delivery for people across the area, including here in Orland Park.
Missing and late mail have been reported, according to the village. Residents are concerned they'll either never get their packages and letters, or that their anticipated mail is lost.
“We rely on the United States Postal Service for timely service and daily delivery of important communication,” said Orland Park Mayor Keith Pekau. “It is frustrating when that service becomes unreliable and inconsistent.”

USPS recently announce that Chicago Postmaster Wanda Prater has been excused from her duties and Eddie Morgan Jr. has been named in her place to alleviate ongoing service issues, the village shared.
“There have been a lot of calls for leadership changes; however, it is unlikely that a single person could have caused these widespread disruptions. There are undoubtedly other root causes for these mail delivery issues, and I encourage our federal representatives to maintain diligence in this matter so that these issues are resolved once and for all,” Pekau said.

The mayor also added, “While the Village of Orland Park has no recourse to assist in the service issues, oversight for USPS-related service issues should be addressed by Congress.”
The village said that those experiencing issues with their mail service should contact the United States Postal Service and, if service does not improve, contact their elected member of Congress.
