Orland Park Police Station Serves as Village Cooling Center

ORLAND PARK, IL - The Orland Park Police Department is the primary cooling center for the Orland Park community. Residents who need relief from the extreme temperatures may go to the station at 15100 South Ravinia Avenue, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

"We ask that residents check on elderly and disabled family, friends and neighbors to make sure they're okay with this extreme weather," said Orland Park Mayor Dan McLaughlin.

The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency's Air Pollution Action Day continues until midnight on Thursday, August 11. An air pollution day is declared when weather conditions can affect those with pulmonary or respiratory diseases and outdoor activity should be limited.

"Those who need a cooling center should come to the police station and, if necessary, we can open other village buildings for those who need it," said Police Chief Tim McCarthy.The village is notifying residents of the cooling center location through the local media, its website and via its social media outlets.According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will drop to the 80s throughout the coming weekend.
