The website states that it first evaluates public safety factors, such as violent, property and hate crimes, determining the safest areas to live. Then the website said it evaluates financial and socioeconomic factors like household income, average rent and health insurance. Additionally, the website says it evaluates each state for natural disaster safety and public health safety.

"Orland Park was named the safest city in Illinois for the first time by safety.com," Mayor of Orland Park Keith Pekau said on Facebook. "Great work by our Orland Park Police Department that continues to be proactive to keep us safe."
