Mitchell presented the following officials with promotions, during their pinning:

  • Deputy Chief Eric Rossi, joined by family, was promoted to Deputy Chief of Orland Park.
  • Commander Ken Rosinski, with family, was promoted to Commander of Investigations.

Pekau gave a speech highlighting achievements made by the OPPD as a whole, as well as stating the crime rate in the village continues to decrease.

"As someone who understands what it's like to go towards trouble and danger, I am awed every day at how all of you go towards trouble. Most people run away from it, you're all trained to step towards it and keep us safe," Pekau said. "I speak on behalf of myself, the village board and all residents of Orland Park, to say how very proud I am to have all of you as part of our police department ... you are the finest police department in the state, if not the country."
