Orland Road Widening At 151st St. On Track To Start Next Summer

The widening of 151st St. and West Ave. is set to start in August 2019, and the roundabout at 147th. and Ravinia is complete.

ORLAND PARK, IL — Orland's plans to reconfigure the intersection of West Avenue and 151 St. Street are underway and the roundabout project at 147th and Ravinia is finished.

Only the landscaping remains at the latter project, and that will be complete some time this spring, said village manager Joseph La Margo.

Plans for the 151st Street are under final review with the Illinois Department of Transportation, he added. The project will widen 151st Street into a three-lane cross section between West Avenue and Ravinia Avenue. At Ravinia Avenue, the west leg of the intersection will be widened to have two through lanes and a left turn lane. This matches the east leg section that was completed with Lagrange Road project, La Margo said. The village also will install a new storm sewer to drain the roadway, and will replace the existing ditch drainage.

The village is in the process of acquiring some land -- mainly temporary easements and small corners or slivers of property -- for the project, La Margo added.

The project is on track to start next summer and will be complete in 2020.
