Orland Township to Hold Drive-Thru Meal Distribution
250 prepared meals available to low-income Township residents

Orland Township will hold its third drive-thru meal distribution, handing out packaged meals to low-income residents on Saturday, March 13, according to the office of Orland Township Supervisor Paul O’Grady.
Through a long-standing partnership with the Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD), Orland Township will hold a “Grab & Go” meal distribution, featuring meals that have been prepared by the GCFD. In addition to the prepared meals, residents will receive bags of non-perishable pantry staples and a gift card to a local grocery store.
“The Orland Township Food Pantry serves over 300 households every month,” said Supervisor O’Grady. “While the residents who access the Food Pantry receive a bounty of healthy groceries, including fresh produce, dairy and meat, many need assistance preparing meals. This program helps bridge that gap by providing prepared meals that are nutritional, easy to cook and may help residents come up with other meal ideas to prepare themselves.”

As part of the GCFD’s efforts to expand food access to those in need of prepared meals, particularly older adults, the Food Depository has continued growing its meal production and delivery program from its facility on the city’s Southwest Side. The meals are distributed with the help of nearly two dozen community partners, like the Orland Township Food Pantry, across Cook County.
The prepared meal distribution drive-thru will be held on Saturday, March 13, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or while supplies last, at Orland Township, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave., Orland Park. Residents are asked to bring valid i.d., remain in their vehicles, and wear a mask while interacting with Township personnel.
