ORLAND PARK, IL — The games are finally completed here in Orland Park! Residents at Smith Crossing in Orland Park held an Olympics competition in anticipation of the games, which will kick off next month. This week, Patch has shared the "photo of the day" provided by Smith Crossing, featuring the events held.
All week, the residents engaged in many activities in their exciting schedule that included:
- Monday — Opening ceremony, 11 a.m.; volleyball 1 p.m.
- Tuesday — Discuss competition 10 a.m.; hammer throw 1 p.m.
- Wednesday — Shuffleboard 10 a.m.; Javelin 1 p.m.
- Thursday — Archery 10 a.m.; volleyball 2 p.m.
- Friday — Ring toss 10 a.m.; boccie ball 2 p.m.; closing festivities at 3 p.m.
Friday
Residents at Smith Crossing are wrapping up a full week of Olympic-inspired competitions—from volleyball to discus and hammer throwing as well as shuffleboard to archery and javelin—that provide a great mix of favorite and untried sports at the Orland Park continuing care retirement community. They will cap the week of events with an Olympic themed happy hour in the community’s pub Friday evening. Cheers to all participants!
