Smith Crossing Residents Donate Gifts To Manteno Veterans’ Home
Residents donated snacks, toiletries, clothing and cash valued near $1,000, to support local veterans at Manteno Veterans' Home.

ORLAND PARK, IL — Smith Crossing residents faced a challenging year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The residents had to comply with visiting limitations and reduced activities out of precaution. One thing the residents didn't lose was their holiday spirit.
Residents decided to help others continue to flourish in the Orland Park life plan community this year. According to Smith Crossing, residents donated snacks, toiletries, clothing and cash valued near $1,000, to support local veterans at Manteno Veterans’ Home, in Kankakee County.
Smith Crossing said residents collected donations from Nov. 30 to Dec. 20. The donations were delivered to the Veterans’ home on Monday, Dec. 21. Manteno's is located on a 122-acre campus in Kankakee County and provides care for as many as 294 veterans in skilled nursing care and special needs units, according to Smith Crossing.
