Teen Fatally Struck by Car in Orland Park
The 17-year-old was mowing the lawn when he was hit.

ORLAND PARK, IL — A 17-year-old boy was killed Friday evening when a car veered off the road and struck the teen as he was mowing the lawn, police said in a release.
On Friday, June 17, police were called to a traffic crash in the Silo Ridge subdivision. Preliminary investigation showed that a 73-year-old male driving a 2009 Mercedes Benz on Silo Ridge North reportedly left the roadway and struck the teen, who was on foot. The driver also hit a brick mailbox, police said.
The teen was taken to St. James Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:45 p.m. The driver was not injured.

The Orland Park Police Traffic Safety Unit was called to the scene for investigation and crash reconstruction. No charges or citations had been issued as of late Friday night. The Orland Park Police Department is not releasing the names of any individuals involved at this time as this is an active investigation.
