Ryan A. from Oak Forest says: “Recently just turned 21 and knew where I wanted my first drink, The Carraig. Stepping into this place is like stepping into a pub in Ireland. The decor is amazing and spot on to being an authentic Irish pub and restaurant. They have the regulars that seem to all have a brogue. Sit down on one of the high top comfy seats and prepare to be served within a minute. The Guinness is so fresh and they always pour it perfect.”

The Irish Patriot, 9875 143rd St., Orland Park | 4 stars

Rick B. from Orland Park says: “Nice refurbished neighborhood Irish bar. Good beer selection and reasonably priced. As to food, it was pretty typical Irish pub grub - and good at that. While the food prices are a bit on the high side (i.e.-$12 for Shepherd’s Pie), they made up for it with very large serving sizes.”

The Ashford House, 7959 159th St., Tinley Park | 3.5 stars

Patrick H. from Midlothian says: “The restaurant and its food are really good. The service is excellent. Their mixed grill is hard to beat. The Irish breakfast is really good too as long as you get the beans and chips along with it. ... Overall this is a great restaurant and the owners are really decent people but for the love of God will you stop with that ... music soundtrack you have playing on a loop. No one in their right mind enjoys Black 47.”

Square Celt Ale House & Grill, 39 Orland Square Dr., Orland Park | 3.5 stars

Jeff B. from Chicago says: “Our server did a bang up job, we got there at 10 and were told the kitchen was about to close but she was able to get our order in. I ordered a corned beef sandwich. Let me tell you, if you’re looking for solid, thick cut corned beef, this is the joint. It is not that cheap lunch meat stuff, this is the real deal. So I was pleased however nobody else in my party was pleased with their food. ... The music in this place was all over the board and ruined our experience. One minute they are playing Beyonce and the next song is Guns & Roses.”

Blarney Stone Pub, 15400 Cicero Ave., Oak Forest | 3.5 stars

Obiel C. from Chicago says: “Only disappointment this place has given me is limited amount of 3 Floyds Gumball on tap. Seems like everyone likes it on the South Side. Tried the Buffalo Bleu Cheeseburger with Tots and some jalapeño mayo on the side , and Smalltown Root Beer which was Excellent.”

Teehan’s, 17329 S. Oak Park Ave., Tinley Park | 3.5 stars

Greg D. from Frankfort says: “This is a proper irish bar in Tinley Park. We stopped in for a cold one after trolling Oak Park Ave during the Tuesday car show. The beer is cold and it was packed with guys my age. The bartender was good and was showing ample cleavage. Always a plus with a bar packed with dudes. It was very dark. They made kiddie cocktails for my twins.”

Sullivan’s Irish Pub & Eatery, 4660 W. 147th St., Midlothian | 3 stars

Marina D. from Oak Forest says: “I normally don’t write reviews, but I’m really hoping the owner will see this and make adjustments. The food is really, really good that’s the only reason I’m giving a 3-star rating. The problem for me has always been the terrible service. I have been to Sullivan’s 3 times, and every single time it has taken forever to get our food. Today we ordered the appetizer tray and 6 burgers. After a 40 minute wait I had to ask the waitress if our appetizer tray was ready. The thing is, it was not busy as only 3 tables were occupied.”

Durbin’s, 17265 Oak Park Ave., Tinley Park | 3 stars

Josh G. from Frankfort says: “Went today for the first time and was really impressed with the beer selection. Had a dogfish head 90 minute ale which was moderately priced, but the bartender serving my friends and I was a complete (you know what). Would’ve given the place more stars if it wasn’t for her. Get it together, miss.”

Ariel’s Bar & Restaurant, 18401 N. Creek Dr., Tinley Park | 2.5 stars

Jeannie A. from Burbank says: “The new management at Ariel’s contacted me via Yelp, asking me to give them another try. It just so happened that I was looking for a place to host a euchre meetup group of 32, and I knew they had the space. It was serendipity - or just really great timing! John, the manager, put me in touch with Kelly, the event coordinator. In no time, I had an alcove of the bar secured for a Friday night for our group. Such great communication and friendliness.”

Hackney’s, 12300 S. La Grange Rd., Palos Park | 2.5 stars

Larry M. from Palos Park says: “We’ve lived a few miles from here for over 20 years, and I don’t think anything’s changed in that time, and I don’t know if that’s all good. I love the place and atmosphere (especially when there’s entertainment), but the menu hasn’t changed at all. Still an OK burger, and now they offer the onion loaf in a manageable small size (thankfully), but price wise it’s up there with really good burger places, when this is just decent. I hope they step it up some. Nostalgia’s one thing. Not keeping pace with the competition’s another.”
