Aldi Ready To Build New Shorewood Store
There's been talk about Aldi building a new grocery store in Shorewood since 2018. Now, it's ready to happen.
SHOREWOOD, IL — Since 2018, Patch and other news outlets in the Joliet area have reported on plans to build a new Aldi grocery store near the Home Depot at Route 59 and Black Road. Now, the project is ready to happen. In recent few days a sign was posted on Black Road announcing, "Coming Soon! Aldi."
A large chain-link fence is enclosed across the entire vacant lot, and there is one bulldozer parked inside the fence.
Shorewood Village Administrator Jim Culotta told Patch he is not certain whether the new Aldi store will open later this year or perhaps in 2021.

The upcoming construction of the new Aldi, Culotta said, is great news for the village of Shorewood. He said Aldi recently obtained all its necessary building permits to start construction.
"I have not seen a timetable as far as construction," he said. "I think it's going to be great."
