Benefit Sunday to Help Cover Mauled Dog's Medical Expenses

The shepherd-mix was viciously mauled on Christmas Eve.

A Sunday afternoon benefit at Double “J” Sports Bar will help cover the medical costs for a Joliet dog that was viciously mauled on Christmas Eve.

“Harley was savagely attacked by two dogs on Christmas Eve and has had to undergo several surgeries to still be with us,” event organizers said in promotional literature. “She has a long road to recovery and the medical expenses are becoming very extensive.

The benefit to assist Harley’s owner, Sarah Tyrell, will include free food, raffles and drink specials.

The event at the 1001 Essington Road tavern starts at 1 p.m. and goes until 6 p.m.
