Best Place To Sled? Shorewood's Four Seasons Park
Patch Editor John Ferak, a Shorewood resident, visited Four Seasons on Sunday morning.

SHOREWOOD, IL - Many communities have entrance signs into town honoring a hometown hero or paying tribute to a championship high school team. The village of Shorewood might want to think about adding a new entrance sign along Route 52 trumpeting Cene's Four Seasons Park sledding hill off Seil Road as the best place to take your kids sledding in the Joliet area. One of the advantages of living in Shorewood is that it's less than five minutes from my house.

On Sunday morning, after removing another four inches of snow from my driveway, I decided that we needed to avoid cabin fever. So I took my two youngest children over to Cene's Four Seasons to go sledding. It marked our second visit to Four Seasons for the winter, which isn't a surprise, because we did not have much snow around the Joliet area until the past week.

Once you are able to walk up to the top of Four Seasons hill, it feels like it's about 15 degrees colder than down below on the ground. There's also heavy wind gusts on the top. It reminds me of Mount Everest, although I must admit I've never climbed Mount Everest. On Sunday morning, the sledding crowds weren't too crazy, although I suspect it might be busier Sunday afternoon.

Both of the times I've been there, the other families were friendly and polite. Even one of the Shorewood Police officers made an occasional round through the parking lot just to make sure everybody was safe and having fun.
Do you live in Will County? If so, what's your favorite place to sled over the winter?
