Casa Maya Shuts Down After Worker Gets Coronavirus
It's been one bad thing after another for Casa Maya since the long-time Shorewood restaurant moved to its new location near Route 59.

SHOREWOOD, IL — A long-time Shorewood restaurant has decided to temporarily close down after one of its employees was diagnosed with the new coronavirus. On Friday night, the Casa Maya Mexican Restaurant announced on Facebook "2020 has not been our year."
"Unfortunately one of our employees has tested positive for Covid-19. To ensure the safety of our employees and our customers we have decided to temporarily close for the next two weeks," Casa Maya informed its social media followers. "We are currently undergoing sanitizing procedures, following Centers for Disease Control guidelines aimed to prevent the potential spread of Coronavirus."

Casa Maya finally opened at its new location at the Anderson's Crossing near Route 59 and U.S. 52 in early December. The construction project was roughly six months behind schedule, and Casa Maya vacated its long-time restaurant location several blocks up the road on U.S. 52 last June.
Then, the Shorewood sit-down restaurant abruptly was forced to change its business model after Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced that all Illinois bars and dine-in restaurants would not be allowed to serve patrons inside their businesses starting March 16, because of the health crisis.
