Coronavirus Has Showed Up In Shorewood: Mayor Says
Long-time Shorewood Mayor Rick Chapman made the announcement on Sunday evening from Village Hall Chambers.

SHOREWOOD, IL — On Sunday evening, Shorewood Mayor Rick Chapman announced that six Shorewood residents are now recovering from the coronavirus. Chapman delivered the news in his first videotaped address concerning the coronavirus outbreak in about a week.
Chapman's message to the community: make sure you are following social distancing guidelines if you need to be outside, such as at the grocery store, for instance.
"As you all are well aware, the coronavirus and the crisis continues ... What I need you to know is that the virus has shown up in Shorewood, which tells me we all need to be on our guard.

"We all need to tell our children that we need to keep separation. We've got six cases, confirmed cases, in Shorewood as of today (Sunday, March 29) and those cases have been around probably for about a week. So, we need to be alert ... we just need to be vigilant, keep an eye on one another, that's what it's all about.
"I'm sorry to say that it's finally got to the village. There for a while we were doing quite well."

Chapman said he did not know the addresses of the six people who are recovering from the illness. Also on Sunday, Will County's Health Department announced the total number of coronavirus cases countywide has reached 192. However, the number of deaths remains at four.
