Drunken Golf Cart Driver Ran Into Woman on Joliet Course: Lawsuit
The woman is suing the Joliet Park District, Inwood Golf Club, the alleged driver of the golf cart and a Center Street bar.

A Joliet woman was run down by a golf cart driven by a drunken woman at Inwood golf course, according to a lawsuit filed in Will County court.
Valerie Venegas sued the Joliet Park District, Inwood Golf Club, O’Charley’s Irish Pub, Brian T. Charley and Brandi Odem.
Venegas was playing golf when an intoxicated Odem crashed into her with a golf cart in July 2014, the lawsuit said. Odem did this with the “deliberate intent to cause harm,” the suit said.

The park district and golf club “tendered control of golf carts to participants and golf course employees whom (they) knew to be inebriated,” the lawsuit said.
Curiously, the suit claims O’Charley’s “operated, controlled, monitored, supervised and maintained” Inwood golf course. The lawsuit said the same about Charley.

An Inwood employee said O’Charley’s does not operate, control, monitor, supervise or maintain the golf course, but said further questions should be sent to course manager Brian Legan in an email. Legan failed to respond to the email.
Venegas’ attorney, Richard Craig, failed to respond to a call for comment.
