Shorewood Townhouse Sustains Heavy Fire Damage
The fire broke out late Wednesday night in Shorewood, prompting the fire department to summon several area departments to help.
SHOREWOOD, IL — Members of the Troy Fire Protection District battled a townhouse fire that broke out late Wednesday night in the 300 block of Parkside Drive not far from the Walnut Trails Elementary School.
The fire was reported around 8:45 p.m., according to Troy Township Fire Chief Andy Doyle. Two of the apartment units sustained the most significant fire damage, and they are now unlivable, the chief said
Two other units sustained minor smoke damage, the chief said.

"Everybody made it out safely and one person was treated at the scene," Doyle said.
The fire department issued a box alarm, notifying several area fire departments to respond to Shorewood to help extinguish the burning building. Firefighters remained on Parkside Drive putting out the fire until around 12:40 a.m. Thursday.

On Thursday morning, Troy Township fire investigators were back at the scene trying to determine the cause of the blaze.
"Nothing's been determined," Doyle said late Thursday morning. "They are still out there investigating it."
