SHOREWOOD, IL — Last summer, Casa Maya left the Park Place Plaza on Route 52 after building its new restaurant at the busy corner of Route 59 and Jefferson Street. Now, a replacement has been found to fill the old Casa Maya. Good Eats On The Go Tavern is coming to Shorewood.

Bill Tezak, one of the real estate investment partners in the Park Place Plaza, told Patch's editor Wednesday that he received substantial interest in leasing the space at the former Casa Maya.

"This has been a restaurant location for 25 years," Tezak said. "Before it was Casa Maya, it was a Marchelloni Pizza. "

Tezak believes the new tavern will be a great addition for Park Place Plaza and the growing village of Shorewood. Good Eats will be next door to Smile of Siam Thai Restaurant.

"It's his first location, but he has a food truck," Tezak said.

Good Eats On The Go Tavern will be operated by Javier Lomeli. On Thursday, Lomeli told Patch that he is trying to open for business around Aug. 15.

"At the latest, September 1st," he said.

What kind of food can you get at Good Eats On The Go Tavern?

"We're mainly a Mexican-style grill with burgers. We'll have weekly and weekend specials as we open," Lomeli said.

Lomeli said his food truck has a large following and people can expect the same quality at his new business in Shorewood.

"My signatures are skirt steak, Al pastor and grilled chicken," he said. "Everybody raves about the quality of my meats. Fresh quality lean meats, and everything is made to order."

Lomeli also said "he has a special green sauce" that people like with their meals.

Good Eats On The Go Tavern obtained a liquor license from Shorewood officials. Lomeli said that his new tavern will be a popular destination for anyone who enjoys margaritas.

"It's a tavern, but you will find some of the best Mexican eats in the area and burgers," Lomeli told Patch Thursday. "I know the area is up and coming. Yes, I'm really looking forward" to opening.

Good Eats has launched a website that unveils its food selections. To check it out, go here.

Meanwhile, the Facebook page for Good Eats promotes its margaritas that will be blended at the new Shorewood tavern, 805 West Jefferson St.
