SHOREWOOD, IL — A huge black cloud of smoke lingered over the village of Shorewood late Sunday afternoon. A car was engulfed in flames along the northbound stretch of Interstate 55 before the Seil Road exit.

Around 4 p.m., one Troy Township fire engine was dousing the burning car with water as one of the Troy Township tanker trucks was trying to get to the scene. The car fire was causing traffic delays for northbound motorists heading toward Plainfield from Interstate 55.
