Italian Breaded Steaks Put New Shorewood Restaurant On Map

SHOREWOOD, IL — A new Shorewood carryout restaurant is gaining more customers by offering something you can't find at most Joliet area restaurants. Carson's Corner opened in March at the site of the former Louie's Pizza, 716 College St.

Carson's Corner is along Route 59, and it's attached to the Bull Pen Sports Bar. So far, the Italian breaded steak sandwich has been the biggest crowd favorite, according to Carson's owner Michael Antonson. He runs Carson's along with his wife, Maria, and their daughter, Allison.

"I grew up cooking at Tony's Italian Beef in Chicago, at 70th and Pulaski," Michael Antonson told Joliet Patch during Friday's interview.

Antonson said that news of his Italian breaded steak sandwiches have been making the rounds on social media.

He recently had several people visit from Dwight.

"They heard I was selling them," Antonson said.

The Carson's Corner Italian breaded steak sandwich comes with red sauce and sweet peppers for $8. For $9, you can get the Italian breaded steak sandwich with mozzarella.

"It's been flying out," Antonson said. "Most of my food is homemade, homemade breading, homemade red sauce, homemade meatballs, the breaded steak, pizza. All the sandwiches are good. Come and try them, you won't be disappointed."

This summer, Carson's Corner is closed Mondays and open from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.

The owner of Carson's would eventually like to expand his hours of operations and offer lunch.

"It's hard to get employees right now," he said.
