New Shorewood Restaurant Good Eats On The Go Closes

SHOREWOOD, IL — Good Eats On The Go opened last September at the previous location of the Casa Maya Mexican Restaurant, but it did not last a year at the site.

All of the restaurant's signage has now been removed from the property at 805 West Jefferson St. and the phone number for the restaurant no longer works. According to Google, Good Eats On The Go is classified as permanently closed.

Good Eats On The Go struggled with marketing and advertising. The last time the new Shorewood updated its restaurant Facebook page was in April, when it announced on April 24: "Closed today."

Two days earlier, on April 22, Good Eats On the Go posted on its Facebook page that "due to staff shortage Good Eats On The Go Tavern will be closed for lunch, dine in and walk in orders on April 22. We will be accepting online curbside pick up orders and Uber Eats at 4 p.m."

Although Good Eats On The Go had an impressive 4.9 ranking out of 5 stars, the new Shorewood restaurant only generated 11 Google Reviews during the past nine months.

During an interview last September, the new owner of Good Eats On the Go, Javier Lomeli, told Joliet Patch he lived in Lockport, and that he is best known for having a food truck that he operated in Channahon.

Good Eats On The Go served four different types of tacos: steak, skirt steak, grilled chicken and Al pastor, which is a marinated pork taco. But these are not ordinary tacos, Lomeli stressed. "I want people to know that I'm more of a tavern, but I have the best tacos in town. I'm looking forward to people in the Shorewood area coming to try our tacos," he added.

Now that Good Eats On the Go has closed, it remains uncertain whether another tenant will fill the large vacancy at the Park Place Plaza along Route 52 in Shorewood.
