Overnight Shooting Was Not At Gas Station: Police

The Will County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting because it did not happen in Shorewood, police tell Patch.

SHOREWOOD, IL — The Will County Sheriff's Office is investigating an overnight shooting that happened on the outskirts of Shorewood. Shorewood Police tell Patch that the victim drove himself to the Gas N Wash at the corner of River Road and Route 52, prompting the Troy Fire District to send an ambulance to the gas station and convenience store.

Police told Patch that rumors being spread on social media Tuesday morning suggesting there was a shooting at the gas station were incorrect.

The shooting is believed to have occurred around 6 a.m. southwest of Shorewood, in the vicinity of Seil Road and County Line Road, officials said.

Patch has reached out to the Will County Sheriff's Office for more information regarding the details of the shooting. This story will be updated once more is known. Shorewood officials told Patch that the shooting victim's injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
