Public Meeting On I-55 Improvements: Come With Questions

Officials are inviting residents to come and provide questions and comments on the plans to improve the highway.

JOLIET, IL — The Illinois Department of Transportation is hosting a public meeting about the proposed improvements on I-55 between I-80 and U.S. 52. They're running the meeting on April 11 at the Joliet Junior College, 1215 Houbolt Road, in partnership with the City of Joliet.

From 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at the Building "U" Auditorium, attendees will find out about alternatives, get an update on the project, review data and more. Officials encourage the public to attend and provide their comments.

IDOT will show exhibits and an audio-visual presentation continuously throughout the meeting and people working on the project will be available for questions.

You can submit questions and comments at the meeting, by mail, or by visiting the project's website.

The meeting will be accessible to people with disabilities. If you need special assistance, call Steven Schilke at 847-705-4125. "Persons planning to attend who will need a sign language interpreter or other similar accommodations should notify the Department’s TTY/TTD number (800) 526-0844/ or 711, TTY users in Spanish (800) 501-0864/ or 711 and Telebraille (877) 526-6670, at least five (5) days prior to the meeting," the City of Joliet said on their website.
