Ashfaq Khan hopes people from the Bolingbrook area will give his authentic food a try.

A new sit-down restaurant that features Indian and Pakistani food has opened in the growing village of Bolingbrook. On Thursday, Bolingbrook Patch stopped by and interviewed the owner of Desi Diner, 247 S. Bolingbrook Drive. The new ethnic restaurant offers fine dining and banquet services. Desi Diner is easy to find. It's located in the commercial strip mall near the Tony's Fresh Market.
Desi Diner is open Monday-Thursday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Fridays 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturdays 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The new restaurant also specializes in catering services and carryout orders, said owner-operator Ashfaq Khan, who lives in Shorewood.

Khan told Patch that he loves the Bolingbrook community and that it made perfect sense to open his new restaurant here. He said he was pleased that a number of village officials recently came by and ate here. He also said the online restaurant reviews from his first-time customers have been positive.
Ashfaq Khan recently opened Desi Diner in Bolingbrook
"My main emphasis was to bring something to the Bolingbrook area where people can come enjoy, have fun and have good food," Khan told Patch. "That is the reason we opened here."
One of our readers of the Bolingbrook Patch reached out and asked us to consider a story to let more people around the Bolingbrook and Romeoville area know about the unique restaurant that recently opened for business.
Khan said he opened Desi Dinner around Christmas.
"We need more ethnic restaurants like this," the reader wrote Patch. "I am overjoyed to have this type of food now in Bolingbrook ..."

Bolingbrook's Desi Diner opened in late December.
Khan hopes that people from the Bolingbrook area will give his authentic food a try.
"People used to go to Chicago, Lombard or Schaumburg so we thought they might stop here instead of going that far to get good food," Khan said.
Desi Diner is open seven days a week at the Pheasant Hill Plaza near Tony's. Its phone number is 630-914-5262.
