SHOREWOOD, IL — One of the Shorewood Police Department's vehicles is off to the repair shop after a Joliet man kicked a rear door so hard that he caused a major dent, according to Shorewood Deputy Police Chief Eric Allen. The incident prompting Archaye Raine's arrest occurred Aug. 29.

According to his criminal complaint, Raine attacked one of his family members at a house in Shorewood on Aug. 29, striking the man in the head. Raine also attacked a female relative, pushing her about the body, the court files show.

After Shorewood police officers arrived at the domestic disturbance call, officers put Raine in handcuffs and brought him to the police station. That's where his aggression began, Allen said.

Raine was charged with a felony offense of criminal damage to governmental supported property because he damaged a Livescan Machine inside the Shorewood Police Department, the court files show. At the station, Raine also obstructed a peace officer in that he tensed up his arms and refused to produce his hands when Shorewood officer Michael Alvardo tried to fingerprint Raine on the night of Aug. 29, the complaint states.

Raine was charged with a second felony offense of criminal damage to government supported property because he damaged a Shorewood squad's window frame after being placed in handcuffs for the prisoner transport to the Will County Jail, the complaint states.

Deputy Chief Allen told Patch's editor last week that the squad car will probably need a new door installed because Raine kicked the door so hard and so many times that the rear door has a huge dent that was at least an inch deep.

Allen said that Raine's anger intensified toward the Shorewood police after learning that his arrest on domestic violence charges was resulting in a detention at the county jail.

Raine thought he would get released from custody that same night on an I-Bond, Allen told Patch.

Raine, who lives in the 200 block of Joliet's Madison Street, which is near the hospital, has two prior domestic battery convictions in Will County, one in 2006 and another in 2017, Will County prosecutors noted in their latest criminal complaint against him.

The 32-year-old Raine was released from county detention on Sept. 2, after posting 10 percent of his $25,000 bail, jail logs show.

Unrelated, the Will County State's Attorney's Office filed criminal trespass to real property charges against Raine on Aug. 13. The complaint states that on July 21, Raine remained in the Budget Inn Express property at 1806 McDonough St. in Joliet "after receiving notice from the owner to depart."
