Shorewood-Troy Public Library Assists with Region 7 Mitigation

SHOREWOOD, IL – As our Region works together to reduce COVID transmission, the library is doing our part to help our community. Effective Wednesday, August 26, 2020, Shorewood-Troy Public Library is reducing the total number of people allowed in the library to 10 per floor, including staff. A library staff member will be stationed in the lobby to monitor the headcount.

Patrons are encouraged to call or email library departments during regular business hours with questions or to get help in placing holds or locating material.

Current hours remain in effect: Monday-Thursday, 9AM to 8PM and Friday-Saturday, 9AM to 5PM, closed Sundays.

BUILDING ACCESS

  • The study room is unavailable until further notice.
  • The study tables may only be used with in-house, library-owned laptops for essential tasks, such as checking email, online banking, job searching etc.
  • Library laptops may be checked out for 90 minutes for essential online tasks. You must leave a valid ID or other item of value (eg. car keys) with Circulation in order to use the laptop at a study table.
  • Wireless printing, faxing, scanning and copying will all be available in the library.
  • Wireless printing is also available from home. Patrons can print from a home computer and pay and pick up the print job in the lobby. Or, patrons can email a document to reference@shorewoodtroylibrary.org and pay and pick up the print job in the lobby. For more information see the Using the Library tab on shorewoodtroylibrary.org.
  • Masks are required to be worn in the library in accordance with governmental guidelines (over age 2). If you do not have a mask and wish to enter the library, the lobby staff member will have masks for sale for $1.


BOOK-RELATED SERVICES

  • Patrons may still enter the library to pick up holds or briefly browse and check out books.
  • If you wish to pick up your holds in the lobby, please call or email the library to arrange a pick up day/time.
  • Three contactless book drops are available for patrons to return materials: the outside parking lot book drop, the exterior building book drop and the interior red book drop. Please do not try to hand materials directly to staff.
  • Out of an abundance of caution and in support of new mitigation efforts, the library will be increasing the quarantine period from 3 days to 7 days for returned items. Please note: returned items will stay on a patron’s account until coming out of quarantine. Overdue fines will NOT be charged. However, fines for lost or damaged items or fines for overdue materials from other libraries will still apply.
  • If "overdue items" are blocking you from accessing e-resources, such as OverDrive, please contact a library staff member to renew your items.


OTHER SERVICES

  • Book-a-Librarian appointments can only be done remotely via email or phone until further notice.
  • Passport processing is not available until further notice.
  • All programming will be virtual until further notice.
