Shorewood To Waive Utility Fees For Unemployed Due To Virus
Shorewood residents unemployed because of the coronavirus are eligible for some free utilities from the village for two months.
SHOREWOOD, IL — Shorewood's Village Board approved a program last Tuesday to provide some utility relief to village residents whose jobs are lost due to the new coronavirus, a release from the village says.
The Utility Relief Program will provide up to two months of free water, sewer and trash pick up services to Shorewood residents who have been approved by Illinois to receive unemployment insurance due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The village does reserve the right, however, to charge a resident for water if use is determined to be excessive. They cited filling a pool as an example of excessive use.
