SHOREWOOD, IL — After Chamber of Commerce officials announced the cancelation of next month’s Crossroads Festival last week, the village has announced it will host a July 4 fireworks celebration.

The 15-minute showcase will begin at 9:15 p.m. in the Towne Center, but due to the safety distancing required for fireworks as well as ongoing social distancing guidelines in place due to the coronavirus pandemic, local residents will be encouraged to watch the fireworks from their homes. Fireworks have traditionally been part of the Crossroads Festival.

Village officials announced in a news release that the July 4 show will feature only high aerial fireworks to maximize visibility for all of Shorewood’s neighborhoods. Limited parking will be available at the village hall, however entrance to the safety zone will not be permitted. Wynstone Drive will also be closed to traffic from 9:10 p.m. to the end of the show, which will also be live-streamed on the village’s Facebook page.
