Shorewood's 1st ALDI Opens For Business: Photo Gallery
On the same day Costco opened its new store near I-55 and Route 30, ALDI opened its new Shorewood grocery store on Black Road.

SHOREWOOD, IL —One of America's largest grocery stores opened its first ALDI store in Shorewood on Wednesday morning. However, the big grand opening celebration marking the new store at 665 Brook Forest Ave. takes place at 9 a.m. Thursday.
The new ALDI is near the Home Depot at Route 59 and Black Road and it's expected to draw most of its customers from Shorewood, Joliet and the Plainfield area.
Even though Wednesday was considered the store's soft opening, the new ALDI had several customers coming and going during the noon hour.

Incidentally, the new ALDI wasn't the only major store to open its doors on Wednesday. A new Joliet area Costco opened in Plainfield along Route 30 and I-55 at a new development called The Boulevard. The Costco is in the village of Plainfield limits, but other undeveloped land within the sprawling development will part considered part of Joliet.
