Shorewood's 1st Smoothie King Opens

SHOREWOOD, IL — In July, Joliet Patch broke the news that Smoothie King was expanding to Route 59 and Black Road, the empty storefront next to Noodles & Company World Kitchen. On Monday, the Joliet area's first Smoothie King opened for business.

Several customers were entering the juice bar franchise by early afternoon.

Smoothie King is located in the village of Shorewood at the same shopping plaza as the Mariano's grocery store. The Mariano's shopping center is one of the most successful up and down Route 59. In late summer, the Marshall's clothing store opened in the same plaza, relocating from Joliet.

Shorewood's new Smoothie King is staying open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

"Smoothie King is a great addition to the growing mix of food, beverage and retail options in Shorewood," Shorewood Village Administrator Jim Culotta told Joliet Patch on Monday.

According to its website, Smoothie King has more than 1,000 locations in the U.S., the Republic of Korea, Trinidad & Tobago and the Cayman Islands. Smoothie King opened its first U.S. juice bar in New Orleans.

Other Smoothie King locations near Shorewood include locations in Yorkville, New Lenox and Plainfield.
