Shorewood's New Chicken-N-Spice Ready For Business

Thursday, Sept. 20 marks the grand opening.

SHOREWOOD, IL - One of the greatest things about the city of Joliet is the downtown Chicken-N-Spice restaurant on North Chicago Street. Everybody loves Chicken-N-Spice, but starting Thursday, Sept. 20, you won't have to be in downtown Joliet to enjoy that great tasting chicken. Chicken-N-Spice's highly anticipated second location opens for customers at 10 a.m. Thursday in Shorewood. The new fast-food restaurant is at the intersection of Route 59 and Jefferson Street. The intersection has 60,000 cars daily, owners of Chicken-N-Spice reminded Patch on Wednesday.

Unlike downtown Joliet, the new Shorewood restaurant will feature a drive-thru window.

Chicken-N-Spice's Shorewood hours will be 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, and 10 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday. However, the dining area will still close at 10 p.m. on weekends, but the drive-thru will stay open until midnight on Friday and Saturday, the owners said.

The breast chunks and the delicious chicken will be the main draws for the Shorewood Chicken-N-Spice, the owners said, but the new restaurant will also feature a chicken salad croissant and several tasty desserts including strawberry shortcake.

"It's a very similar menu. It's almost exactly the same menu except for some new items," said Steve Wiborg, who is partnering with Joe DiGuglielmo to open the new Chicken-N-Spice at Route 52 and Route 59.

Meanwhile, construction is continuing in Orland Hills. A third area Chicken-N-Spice restaurant aims to open on 159th Street before the end of the year, Wiborg told Patch.
