Silver Cross Hospital Execs Wrap Toys Harvey Brooks Foundation

Silver Cross wraps gifts for local children.

Last week, the entire Silver Cross Hospital Executive Team and their administrative assistants stopped by the Harvey Brooks Foundation on Joliet’s southeast side to assist parents in selecting and wrapping Christmas gifts for their children. The group donated all the gift wrapping supplies along with several boxes of toys that were combined with the donation from the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program. In addition, parents received new scarves and hats from Silver Cross.

"We’ve had a longstanding relationship with Harvey Brooks and wanted to do something special to spread a
little holiday cheer to their patrons; especially those who may need a little extra help this season,” said Ruth Colby, President and CEO at Silver Cross Hospital.

Over the past 9 years, the Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission has provided the Harvey Brooks
Foundation with $229,000 in grants to help fund positive community programs and the daily operation of the center, which includes after-school programs and pre-school inside All Nations Church of God in Christ at 503 S. Water Street in Joliet.

“We are so appreciative to Ruth and her Executive Team for their support during the holidays and throughout the year,” said Cathy Wells, Executive Director of the Harvey Brooks Motivation & Development Foundation. “At one point, 7 different Vice Presidents were wrapping gifts for a mom with 7 children making sure that each child received three gifts on their wish lists - all carefully wrapped in matching paper.”
