SHOREWOOD, IL — The Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow recently filed four more charges against a 28-year-old Shorewood man who had two outstanding warrants out for his arrest in connection with violating an order of protection and criminal trespass to his ex-girlfriend's house in Mokena.

On Jan. 17, prosecutors filed four counts of resisting a peace officer against Nicholas Sarich. He became combative when multiple officers at the Shorewood Police Department came to arrest him on New Year's Day in connection with his outstanding arrest warrants, court documents indicate.

Back on Dec. 23, Shorewood Patch published an article about Sarich headlined, "I Am Afraid Nick Is Actually Going To Kill Me: Mokena Victim." At the time of the article, Patch reported that Sarich remained at large.

Then on New Year's Day, Shorewood Police spotted him.

However, Sarich resisted Shorewood Police Officer Jason Henson "in that he pulled his body away from Jason Henson" while Henson was there to execute an outstanding warrant, the complaint states. Additionally, Sarich "did not put his hands behind his back," during the handcuffing process, a second charge shows.

Sarich was also charged with two additional resisting arrest counts in regard to his conduct toward Shorewood Police Officer Paul Retzke.

Sarich "pulled his body away from Paul Retzke" and "he did not put his hands behind his back" during the handcuffing process, his criminal complaint shows.

Sarich, who lives in Shorewood's 500 block of Westwood Drive, has remained in his cell at the Will County Jail the entire month of January, jail logs show. His bail remains set at $100,000.

Sarich has been unable to come up with 10 percent to post as bond.
