A Sweet Special Delivery at Timbers
Residents of the Timbers were treated to a special Valentine's Day surprise, one that ultimately benefited the Alzheimer's Association.
The residents of the Timbers of Shorewood, were treated to a special Valentine’s Day surprise, one that ultimately benefited the Alzheimer’s Association.
Families of residents were contacted to buy a package starting at $8.00 which included a chocolate rose, a heart-shaped balloon, and a personalized card. Families responded enthusiastically. Word-of-mouth attracted Timbers’ neighbors and local businesses who bought packages for those residents who were not scheduled to receive the Valentine’s Day treat.
By the end of the campaign, 100 percent of residents received a happy surprise. Another happy surprise was the check for $1600 sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.

“The response was heartening,” said Sheila Reyes, director of marketing at The Timbers. “All our residents were shown some real love by families, businesses, and Shorewood neighbors. And that’s what Valentine’s Day is all about.”
The Timbers of Shorewood is a rental retirement community which provides independent and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay - a weekend, a week, a month or longer.
