Trinity Christian Students Build Snowmen for Alden Residents.
Students from Trinity Christian School in Shorewood built snowmen outside the windows of the Alden Estates facility.
The students of Trinity Christian School (TCS) and the senior residents of Alden Estates in Shorewood have a unique and special relationship. Historically, the Trinity students have visited Alden residents to sing Christmas Carols, play cards, interact and share stories as part of a Trinity Leadership elective class. Trinity incorporates the value of serving others as part of their curriculum. Students are taught about the responsibility and call to serve, as well as the joy of serving.
Unfortunately, the students have not been able not visit their senior friends for almost a year due to the pandemic.
Alden Estates Administrator, Stephanie Popp said of the residents, “They haven’t seen the children since before the pandemic and deeply miss their visits with them.”

Mrs. Volpe, a TCS fifth grade teacher, had an idea to safely allow the residents to see the children again. With plenty of snow on the ground, Mrs. Volpe’s class built snowmen outside the Alden windows.
Ms. Popp shared, “Seeing the children smile and wave to them through the window put so many smiles on the faces of our residents and brightened their spirits.” Ms. Popp added, “The residents are still talking about what a great job the children did building the snowmen and were so honored that they wanted to do something so special for them!”

It was a wonderful experience and a creative way to safely reunite the Trinity students and their senior friends.
