Troy Community School District 30-C will be hosting a free online presentation by cofounder of the Center for Emotional Wellness of the Northwest Suburbs, Jacqueline Rhew, live via Zoom on April 29.

Rhew is a powerful speaker who will provide essential tools for parents on how to build resilience in children of any age.
Her presentation will review specific interventions designed to assist children in managing their anxiety, increasing their motivation, setting healthy goals, and successfully engaging in school. Also explored in the presentation will be the issues of school avoidance and maladaptive coping responses.
Rhew will also help parents develop strategies to assist their children with healthy coping responses and engage them in effective communication and language that promotes self-advocacy and independence.
Rhew was instrumental in creating and developing the School Anxiety/School Refusal Program at AMITA Health Hospital in Hoffman Estates, where she served as Assistant Director for seven years. She has co-authored several publications, including, “School refusal in children and adolescents,” and has been featured on ABC Chicago Channel 7 and CBS Chicago Channel 2, highlighting her work with adolescents struggling with bullying and school avoidance.
She has also worked with students dealing with eating disorders, self-injury, substance abuse, gaming addictions, grief, trauma, depression and anxiety.
