Troy Middle School Trojans Excel in Baseball, Softball

The Troy Trojans played against Channahon.

The Troy Trojans baseball team began its 2015 season Aug. 15 with a doubleheader sweep against Channahon (9-6, 4-0). Pedro Martinez pitched four scoreless innings in game one, and that was enough after a late rally from Channahon. Camden Karchewski got the save. The offense was led by Pedro Martinez, Cooper Herold and Cole Patrick.

Christian Knapczyk pitched a complete game shutout in game two. Pedro Martinez and Gavin Delrose each had RBIs to secure the victory.

The same day, the Troy Varsity Softball Team also completed a very busy and successful first week of the IESA softball season. Their record for the month was 8-5-1, including a season-opening win over Wilmington 8-6; a doubleheader sweep of Bolingbrook with scores of 16-0 and 11-0 with no hits allowed in either game; a 7-4 win over previously undefeated Hickory Creek; and a 4-2 weekend at the Kelvin Grove Summer Slam Tournament that culminated in a second place finish.

Team members include Lauren Russell, Meghan Sitar, Taylor Durak, Savannah Fierke, Britney Lewinski, Alayna Chizmark, Myah Novotny, Bryn Resuali, Natalie Moldovan, Brianne Doran, Morgan Slavicek and Ariana Rubio.
