Troy Students Selected to All-Illinois Junior Band

They will participate in the 2017 All-Illinois Junior Band, which will perform Jan. 13 and 14 at the University of Illinois Krannert Center.

Several Troy Middle School students have been selected to participate in the distinguished 2017 All-Illinois Junior Band, which will perform January 13 and 14 at the University of Illinois Krannert Center for the Performing Arts.

According to Troy Community School District 30-C band director William Goetz, the students who were selected are Layne Barry (clarinet), Julianna Crompton (horn), Jessica Cruz (flute), Sophia Delgadillo (flute), Paola Lozada (clarinet), Mitchell Lucas (bass clarinet), Ellen Lundeen (horn), Jenna Smith (flute) and Julie Wang (horn).

Alternates are Abigail Olson (bass clarinet) and Tabitha Barowsky (bassoon).

Middle school musicians from all over the state competed for the positions by submitting recorded auditions, which were judged blindly.

The All-Illinois Junior Band was founded to create a premier musical experience for the state’s finest middle school band students. Its goals are to provide an opportunity for the students to perform excellent literature with a mature ensemble and distinguished conductor and to inspire them to continue their musical studies.
