Troy Township Seniors Support Restoration Christian Church's School Supply Drive

Backpacks, pencils and more were distributed over the weekend.

Troy Township Supervisor Joseph D. Baltz announced that on Wednesday, Aug. 20, the Troy Township Seniors presented the Restoration Christian Church Food Pantry with school supplies they had collected to support the food pantry’s “Stack the Deck on Education” event.

Additional school supplies were also donated by the Shorewood Walmart to the Salvation Army Service Extension volunteer Lisa Imbody.

Items collected included backpacks, binders, and pencils which will benefit local underprivileged children. The food pantry distributed the donated items on Saturday, Aug. 23, at the church located at 114 Channahon St. in Shorewood.

The Troy Township Seniors, aged 60 and better, meet from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Wednesday and Friday at the Troy Township Community Center, located at 25448 Seil Road in Shorewood.

They enjoy friendship, food, programs, games and more. Activities include cards, games, monthly health screenings, local area outings and community give back opportunities such as the “Stack the Deck on Education” school supply drive.
