TRU Salon Opens New Shop In Shorewood

Owner Laura Ruettiger said she's also trying to hire two additional hair stylists because of the expanded space in her business.

SHOREWOOD, IL —For the past several months, there was a community buzz in Shorewood surrounding the village's new Anderson's Crossroads shopping plaza. Residents anxiously waited for the Casa Maya sit-down restaurant to open. But Anderson's Crossroads is much more than Casa Maya. In recent days, TRU Salon and Spa opened its new storefront next to Casa Maya.

And next door to TRU Salon is the DuPage Medical Group. DuPage's medical facility focuses on physical and occupational therapy. The other side of the business plaza at Route 59 and Route 52 is best known for being the first Chicken-N-Spice restaurant outside of Joliet's downtown.

Earlier this week, the editor of Joliet Patch and Shorewood Patch interviewed Laura Ruettiger, owner of TRU Salon. Her old storefront was facing Route 59 for more than 25 years.

Ruettiger said her new storefront, 102 W. Jefferson St., is great for her customers and much easier for them to access, compared to being on Shorewood's busy Route 59 corridor.

"We definitely have more parking," Ruettiger told Patch during Monday's interview. "And it's a brand-new location."

Her new location has 10 station bays for customers. She also sells scarves, purses, jackets and jewelry.

TRU Salon and Spa is open Tuesday-Thursday from about 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Her business serves customers of all ages, both men and women, she said. Having a larger storefront also means Ruettiger "is looking for two more stylists," she said.

The business phone number is 815-741-9282. Customers can also book their appointments online and TRU Salon also sells gift cards.
