Zivalich Family House Fire: Neighbors Create GoFundMe
Saturday's fire in Shorewood along the 800 block of Phelps Lane destroyed the two-story home of Chris and Mary Zivalich.

SHOREWOOD, IL — Two days after the family of Chris and Mary Zivalich had their house and all of their possessions go up in flames, neighbors of the Shorewood family have set up a GoFundMe to help them recover.
The GoFundMe is called Zivalich Family House Fire. The goal is to raise $10,000. By Monday morning, a total of $9,400 was raised thanks to 118 separate donations.
Saturday morning's fire was so dangerous that the Troy Township Fire Department made it a box alarm emergency, prompting several area fire departments to respond to the blaze on Phelps Lane.

"Today our neighbors lost their home to a devastating fire," Kristy McCullough wrote in the GoFundMe she organized.
"Fortunately, Chris, Mary, Caragh and their pup Archer Bailey all made it out safely. However they lost all their possessions including their cars to this devastating fire. Chris, Mary and Caragh have been so kind and generous to our community, and honestly over the years they have become more like family then just neighbors. If you can, we are asking for any donations to help this wonderful family try and pick up the pieces, rebuild and get through these tough times."
