83-Year-Old Man Killed In Head-On Crash Near St. Charles: Sheriff

The man's car crossed into oncoming traffic Friday morning in unincorporated St. Charles, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office.

ST. CHARLES, IL — An 83-year-old man died Friday morning after his car crashed into oncoming traffic in unincorporated St. Charles, the Kane County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Fred Thomas, of Huntley, was driving south on Randall Road near its intersection with Bolcum Road when his car crossed the center line and hit an SUV driving north, the release states.

Thomas died at the site of the crash, while a 40-year-old Aurora woman driving the SUV was treated at Delnor Hospital in Geneva for injuries that were not life-threatening, according to the sheriff’s office.

It is unclear if snow or icy roads played a part in the crash, the release states.
