The shooting killed one 23-year-old man Aurora man and injured three other people early Sunday morning. Michael D. Carwell, 24, has since been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the incident.
During a St. Charles Liquor Control Commission meeting, attorneys for the club said the tragedy may have been avoided if Trilogy was allowed to keep its security guards. According to neighbors of the club, Trilogy had nighttime security guards posted outside its doors when it first opened two months ago but had to fire them after a landlord said armed security was against their lease.
