Bring Kids Back To School: D303 Parents Want In-Person Learning
Most St. Charles parents want their students in classrooms Jan. 5 for the start of District 303's second semester, according to a survey.
ST. CHARLES, IL — As St. Charles District 303 schools prepare to move to remote learning after Thanksgiving, a majority of families voiced their hopes to see students back in classrooms next semester, the Kane County Chronicle reports.
District 303 Superintendent Jason Pearson on Monday told board members parents overwhelmingly called for their children to learn in person starting Jan. 5, the beginning of the second semester, the report states.

More than three-quarters of elementary school families want their students to return to classrooms, along with 75 percent of middle school families and 69 percent of high school families, Pearson said.
When District 303 returns from its Thanksgiving holiday break Monday, all schools will revert to full-time remote learning after coronavirus cases and related hospitalizations hit worrying new highs in recent weeks.

The Kane County Health Department last week urged all schools to take an “adaptive pause” and return to remote learning to reduce the spread of the coronavirus. District 303’s adaptive pause will continue through at least Dec. 18, the last day of classes before winter break.

District 303 has recorded 315 total cases since the new school year started Aug. 19, including 35 new cases since Nov. 16, according to the district’s coronavirus dashboard.
