ST. CHARLES, IL — A former Chicago Bear was acquitted Tuesday of charges connected to an alleged fight ring at a youth prison in St. Charles, the Daily Herald reports.

Johan Asiata, who played twice for the Bears in 2010, was charged in November 2016 with five counts of official misconduct, two counts of aggravated battery and one count of unlawful restraint, according to Kane County court records.

Asiata, 35, was charged alongside three co-workers at the Illinois Youth Center — a medium-security juvenile detention center in St. Charles — after authorities alleged they pressured minors to attack and rob each other earlier that year.

Asiata, Andre McFarland and Elliot Short were cleared of all charges Tuesday, Daily Herald reports.
