Patch: Tell us about the Pheasant Run Home and Garden Show beginnings. What was the initial inspiration behind its founding?

Hardesty: We have been producing home improvement shows for over 15 years in the Chicagoland area, but it was clear to us that there was a substantial need for a large, high-quality free home show such as this to specifically serve the homeowners of the St. Charles, Tri-Cities and surrounding suburbs. Connecting with the amazing people at the Pheasant Run Resort made for a perfect fit for this event and we anticipate great success right from its very first show.

Patch: What is the goal of the show? What do you hope to accomplish?

Hardesty: Our goal is to ensure that every one of the thousands of homeowners who attends this show finds who and what they are seeking to improve their homes. The feedback from our other events has been amazingly positive to say the least, so we are excited to be able to bring this same quality of an event with diverse offerings to the great local communities as well. As far as what we’d like to accomplish, I’d say it’s to make everyone happy and build a tradition. We are hoping for a record-breaking attendance for our premier event at Pheasant Run and we hope homeowners in the surrounding areas choose this event for their home improvement needs for years to come. When both the homeowners who attend AND the businesses who participate are happy with the experience, I’d say we’ve accomplished everything that we’ve set out to do.

Patch: The Pheasant Run Home and Garden show premieres at the Pheasant Run Resort’s Mega Center on the weekend of April 13-14. How did you come to select this particular location as the show’s setting?

Hardesty: The Pheasant Run Resort is truly an iconic landmark in the community, so homeowners, not only from the St. Charles area, but for many miles around, are familiar with the location. It’s a great facility in a great location with a long history in the area and the staff has been amazing to work with, so it is truly an ideal setting for hosting our event. Simply put, it is the place to host an event such as this for the great homeowners of DuPage and Kane County.

Patch: This year’s event promises to be the largest free home improvement show of its kind in the area. What will set it apart from other shows in the area?

Hardesty: For several years in a row, our events have grown in both number of exhibitors, as well as the number of homeowners who attend to use it as their tool to find the best company to fill their home improvement, remodeling and repair needs. Our premier event at Pheasant Run will play host to well over 150 quality businesses, highlighting thousands of the latest home related products and services to ensure that every homeowner who attends will find what they are looking for. We understand that everyone’s time is valuable and in turn, we value every single one of the thousands of homeowners who attend our events each year, so we are pleased to provide the most complete event of its kind to ever serve this area.

Patch: What are some of the main attractions at the Pheasant Run Home and Garden Show?

Hardesty: Besides our huge array of home improvement-related companies, this year’s event will play host to a variety of fun and interesting attractions, such as hourly presentations on popular home improvement topics, free live cooking demonstrations, as well as a unique variety of quality indoor and outdoor furniture, adjustable beds, power lawn equipment and robotic mowers, gravity swings, designer metal palm trees, solar power and green energy systems, just to name a few of the special exhibits. There’s far more than home improvement displays at this show and it promises to be very entertaining for all who attend.

Patch: How does the Pheasant Run Home and Garden Show distinguish itself from other home shows?

Hardesty: Not only do we provide an event with a large selection of some of the finest home remodeling and home service businesses, but we also bring a diversity of other businesses who provide products and services for the entire lifestyle of homeowners and their families. In addition, we provide this event to our guests with free admission and free parking to make visiting this event as easy as can be— especially when they visit in groups with family, friends and neighbors. At nearly 40,000 square feet, this is definitely a very large, high-quality home improvement event supported by quality businesses. However, we’re simply not interested in “nickel and diming” our visitors who are already interested in investing in their homes. We invite all to join us, freely. Another unique aspect of this event is that some of the businesses represented here do not participate in any other Chicago area events, so it’s an ideal venue to meet and speak directly with these experts who focus their efforts on helping homeowners in their local communities.

Patch: Tell us about your proudest Home & Garden Show moments.

Hardesty: One of our proudest Home & Garden Show moments would definitely be when we announced we were bringing our Home & Garden Show to the Pheasant Run Resort. The feedback has been extremely positive from both business and consumers alike. We pride ourselves on producing the finest home improvement shows possible for our exhibitors and attendees. The support of this show has been fantastic to say the least and we are truly excited about this premier event.

Patch: Tell us about some of the members of the Home & Garden Show team.

Hardesty: The Home & Garden team is a family-owned and operated business comprised of my wife Sandy and I, family members and friends who are just like family to us. They not only help us operate the day-to-day, but also assist at the events. We are definitely a close-knit team, all dedicated to the same goal of delivering quality events that we can be proud of, each and every time.

Patch: What is your outlook on the future of the Pheasant Run Home & Garden Show? What’s next?

Hardesty: Each year we strive to improve the quality and diversity of our events. We do so not only by growing our exhibitor base to offer attendees a larger selection of products and services, but also experts to discuss their home improvement projects and increase the variety of exhibits for a more unique and interesting experience. In a nutshell, we will always strive to deliver more exciting and diverse events to all of the communities we serve throughout Chicagoland. We want to be sure that every time a homeowner attends this show, they see many new and interesting products and services to ensure that their visit was enjoyable and time well spent.
