Local Election Results: St. Charles Park District Referendum
The St. Charles Park District asked voters to approve $28 million for a new recreation center.

St. Charles Park District voters rejected a proposal to issue $28 million in park bonds. With all 36 precincts reporting, the measure failed 4,178 votes to 1,349, according to unofficial results from the Kane County Clerk’s office. Seventeen percent of eligible voters cast ballots Tuesday.
The park district sought the bonding authority to build a proposed recreation center, with a multi-court gym, a fitness center, an indoor track and other amenities. The park district also wanted to add synthetic turf and seating to fields at the East Side Sports Complex.
