New Sports Bar Opening Along The Fox River In St. Charles

The owner of "Flagship on the Fox" is hoping for a springtime opening on Riverside Avenue in St. Charles.

ST. CHARLES, IL - A new sports bar is coming to the Fox River in St. Charles. Owner Steve Mayer says Flagship on the Fox is shooting for an opening date before April.

"Our true goal would be to open for St. Patrick's Day," Mayer said. "We are a sports bar, so if we could be open for the first weekend of March Madness, too, that would be great for us."

Mayer grew up in the Fox Valley region, graduating from high school in Elgin and still has several family members who live in St. Charles.

"The goal was always to start in the city (Chicago) and then out here," he said.

Mayer is the owner of two other "Flagship" bars, both in Chicago. One is in River North and the other, Lakeview.

His newest place will open along the river at 100 S. Riverside Ave., and it may be just a bit easier to access than his others.

"The possibilities out here," he said... "The amount of square footage you get, the parking, being in downtown St. Charles and the River."

"Our excitement level is about as high as you can get."

Mayer's newest bar will take up about 6,400 square feet in the northern part of the building, the Daily Herald has reported. The space previously was home to Danny's Corner Pocket and the Chord on Blues venue.
