Man Charged In Fatal Hit-And-Run Of Elderly Woman

The 23-year-old turned himself in late Friday night, about eight hours after police say he hit the 88-year-old woman in her wheelchair.

ST. CHARLES, IL — A St. Charles man is facing multiple felony charges after police alleged he struck and killed an elderly woman Friday while she was crossing the street in her wheelchair.

Andrew Jensen, 23, of the 100 block of South 13th Street, was charged Sunday with failure to report an accident or death, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in personal injury or death, and failure to yield at a crosswalk, according to St. Charles police.

Police allege Jensen drove his 2016 Dodge Ram through a crosswalk around 4 p.m. Friday when he hit Helen Radnoti, 88, who was trying to cross North Third Street with her son.

Radnoti, of Chicago, was taken to Delnor Hospital, where she later died.

St. Charles police asked for residents' help Friday night to identify the driver of the truck, which did not stop after hitting Radnoti. Jensen turned himself into authorities just before midnight Friday, about eight hours after the crash, police said.
