WHEATON, IL — The DuPage County Sheriff's Office doled out 76 traffic tickets for seatbelt violations and other offenses as part of its 2021 Memorial Day crackdown. The increased patrols were part of the Illinois Department of Transportation's ongoing "Click It or Ticket" campaign.

"Through the Memorial Day enforcement campaign, we helped make Illinois roads safer and
spread the word that seat belts save lives,” DuPage County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Justin Kmitch said in a news release Thursday.

In total, the sheriff's office issued four tickets for safety belt violations, 44 tickets for speeding and seven tickets for distracted driving. One driver was cited for riving on a revoked or suspended license and seven motorists were ticketed for driving without valid auto insurance.
